San Francisco, California

Cosmopolitan flair, famous sights, spectacular scenery and cultural diversity make San Francisco one of the top destinations in the world. The famous Golden Gate Bridge provides a spectacular entrance to the city that somersaults over more than 40 hills – you’ve seen them in the movies! As the focal point of the 24 miles of coastline between the Golden Gate and the downtown area, Fisherman’s Wharf is known for its historic waterfront, interesting sites, dining and shopping. Union Square is the central shopping, hotel and theatre district of San Francisco. The area has a dynamic and cosmopolitan character with excellent dining options and upmarket department stores and designer boutiques. San Francisco abounds with things to do and here are some of our favourites:

  • Wander through Fisherman’s Wharf – dine in one of the many seafood restaurants
  • Take a ferry to the still formidable prison, Alcatraz – once home to notorious gangsters like Al Capone
  • Be entertained by the street performers at San Francisco’s PIER 39
  • Ride on the world famous Cable Cars, the perfect way to explore the city
  • Watch the sea lions in the bay or lazing around K-Dock, which they have made their home
  • Drive down Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the world
  • Shop at Union Square, with every shop imaginable including Macy’s
  • Climb up to Coit Tower and enjoy the sweeping views over the bay
  • Explore Chinatown with its traditional stores and excellent restaurants
  • Spend an afternoon in Golden Gate Park
  • Stroll or cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge – enjoy the view!
