North Shore

Overview

The North Shore of Massachusetts, which sits on Boston’s doorstep, is known for its historical seaport towns, sweeping beaches and quaint New England villages.

Salem is probably the most well–known city of this region, particularly for the infamous Salem Witch Trials of 1692, which is a theme of the town. Visit the House of Seven Gables, the Peabody Essex Museum and Pioneer Village.

The North Shore area boasts many charming coastal towns. Marblehead is just 4 miles from Salem and showcases a beautiful east coast harbour. You can dine in great restaurants, enjoy sensational shopping and tour historic mansions.

Gloucester is America’s original seaport and one of the oldest art colonies as well as a top fishing port at Rocky Neck. Wander through the Harbortown Cultural District in the heart of downtown. A place to see and feel the history and dine on fresh seafood.

Rockport is another community on the Cape Ann coast, at the midpoint of the Essex Coastal Scenic Byway. A picturesque seaside village and thriving artist colony, you can watch craftsmen at work or lobstermen hauling their traps.

Unspoilt beaches, lighthouses, boating trips including whale watching, museums and historical sites round out the many activities for an enjoyable
stay in the North of Boston region.
