Days 3-4: Today head south to Huntsville, AL. Known as "The Rocket City" Huntsville is home to the world's largest space museum, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Just down the street is Huntsville Botanical Gardens where you can tour the pristine gardens and surround yourself with butterflies in the Butterfly house (seasonal). Take some time to head west towards Florence/Muscle Shoals to immerse yourself in music history by visiting Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, Alabama Music Hall of Fame, and W.C. Handy's Home.

  • Birmingham

Days 5-6: Today drive to Birmingham. This is Sweet Home Alabama’s largest city where a giant of Vulcan overlooks downtown where you can find music and roof-top bars, theatre, and fine dining. Birmingham is also home of America’s largest collection of motorcycles, on display at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. Kelly Ingram Park and the 16th Street Baptist Church, nominated as a world heritage site, are in the historic 4th Avenue Business District.

  • Montgomery

Days 7-8: Travel south to Montgomery, a historic city on the banks of the Alabama river has a very walkable downtown. Voted as the best historical city in the United States because of the events relating to the American Civil War and Civil Rights movement. Visit the Civil Rights Memorial Center, Freedom Rides Museum, Hank Williams Museum, and the Rosa Parks Museum. Hank Williams, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Martin Luther King, Jr and Rosa Parks all made history in this city with wonderful museums and sites dedicated to these men and woman who shaped history.

  • Gulf Shores & Orange Beach

Days 9-10: Continue south until you reach the Gulf of Mexico and the beach side resort towns of Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. Here the sand is soft and white, and the water is blue and warm. Relax on the beach and enjoy the many bars and restaurants that serve fresh gulf seafood.

  • Mobile

Days 11-12: It’s just a short drive to the historic port city of Mobile. Known as the birthplace of Mardi Gras in America, Mobile was founded in 1702 as the original capital of the Louisiana Territory. Mobile is a melting pot of people, flavours, cultures and traditions. Visit the GulfQuest National Maritime Museum, the History Museum of Mobile & Fort Condé, and the Condé Charlotte Museum.

  • New Orleans

Days 13-14: Drive west on I-10 highway to experience another great southern port city, New Orleans. In many ways New Orleans is Mobile’s twin city, just larger. Both are important port cities with similar histories including a love of Mardi Gras and food. Fly home on the last day.
